Care Beyond Bars Foundation is a nonprofit organization that collaborates with the Ghana Prisons Service to provide inmates with practical skills training in tailoring, weaving, batik, and tie-dye production. We promote products made by inmates and support their transition back into society by equipping them with essential tools, machinery, and resources needed to establish sustainable livelihoods after serving their sentences.
CARE BEYOND BARS FOUNDATION GHANA believes that every individual, regardless of their past deserves the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to society.
Founded in 2024 and based in Danyame, Ashanti Region, we work inside and beyond Ghana's correctional facilities to deliver practical vocational training, psychological support, and structured reintegration pathways. We look forward to partner with employers, communities, and government agencies to build a more compassionate and productive Ghana.
From hands-on skill building to emotional wellness, our programs address every dimension of rehabilitation and reintegration.
Participants gain skills in tailoring, bead-making, batik tie & dye making, kente weaving for the males. Dress making, bead making and facilitator making for the females that translate directly into employment or self-employment.
Skills DevelopmentWe accompany individuals post-release with housing referrals, job placement assistance, document registration support, and ongoing follow-up to ensure successful transitions.
Social ReintegrationTrained mentors, including reformed community members walk alongside participants through counselling sessions, life skills workshops, and goal-setting circles.
Personal GrowthFunctional literacy, numeracy, and business education classes help participants access wider economic opportunities and communicate their value to employers.
EducationMicro-grant and seed funding support helps our graduates launch small businesses. We provide business planning workshops and connect them with local markets.
EntrepreneurshipCertified counsellors deliver psychosocial support, trauma healing circles, and peer group therapy to address emotional barriers that often prevent long-term reintegration.
Mental HealthBehind every statistic is a real person who has returned to their family, found meaningful work, and reclaimed their dignity.
Kwame, 32, spent years at Kumasi Central Prison. Through CARE BEYOND BARS tailoring program, he not only mastered his craft but also earned a skill in tailoring and fashion. "I had no skills or direction, through their tailoring training, I discovered my talent and built confidence. Today, I am a skilled tailor, ready to start a new life."

CARE BEYOND BARS gave me more than a skill. They gave me back my self-worth. I now run a small tailoring shop, and my children are proud of me again. This foundation changed everything.
As an employer, I was hesitant at first. But the young man CARE BEYOND BARS referred to us has become one of our best workers. His focus and discipline are remarkable. We've hired two more since then.
The mentors here don't just teach you a trade. They listen. They help you process the shame and the regret. Coming here was the first time in years I felt like a full human being.
